This blog started when I took a class called Place Conscious Education through the Nebraska Writer's Project at UNL. Then I continued it as I explored place conscious writing in the heart of Italy while I took a workshop called "Tapping into the Soul of Place". Now I'm writing about my place at "home" with family, friends and students.

I LOVE this photo of your backyard and Jack...so homey!
ReplyDeleteAll of your pictures are homey! My parents also had a hammock in the backyard. There is no better place to look at the clouds or the stars-no better palce to escape from the world for a bit. Everyone needs a hammock in their backyard.
ReplyDeleteWow.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I have, from a fringe perspective, watched you develop the mental place of family-building. It has been so great to get to know you and to hear about the growth of your family. Even in the days before your wedding, watching your stress and seeing your preparation has helped me form an understanding of the place you inhabit. I look forward to hearing even more this semester.

I think Julia has chosen a lovely title. I share your feelings that people being "in your business" can be very good at time. I grew up in a place with a strong sense of community. Maybe if I had a more secretive life I would want people out of my way, but I enjoy the company. Your writing has a natural flow that I enjoy. I can see you sitting in your parents' back yard enjoying the sky. Nice posting.
